PlayStation insists on its desire to monetize its existing user base
Sony is in no rush to launch the PS6 or sell astronomical numbers of consoles. The Japanese manufacturer’s strategy lies elsewhere. Hiroki Totoki, the CEO of the Japanese giant, has said so in a recent interview.
The executive stated that his company does not need to "aggressively" sell the console, given the PS5’s current stage in its life cycle. The PS5 is slowly nearing the end of its lifecycle, as the next PlayStation could be released as early as late 2027.
Totoki also emphasized that the company’s primary goal is to "monetize" its current player base. PlayStation Plus now boasts 125 million active users each month.
