Onimusha Way of the Sword Review: the new entry in the series gets solid scores

Ahead of its launch on PS5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC this September 4, the press has had the chance to enjoyOnimusha: Way of the Sword. Without further ado, here are the first scores.

As of this writing, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has an average score of 85% on Metacritic for its PS5 version (39 reviews), 82% on PC (10 reviews), and 88% on Switch 2 (4 reviews). Its OpenCritic score stands at 85% based on a total of 58 reviews.

The game’s quite lengthy (over 30 hours), its difficulty is well-balanced, its gameplay polished, and the presentation is quite good over all. The ending also seems very compelling.

On the downside, there’s a slight lack of polish, some repetitiveness in the structure of the main story and side quests, and an open area that feels somewhat unnecessary.
