Last week, a version of DLSS 5 was leaked due to its inclusion in the files for NBA 2K27. Internet users were, of course, quick to add this DLL file to several games. Some game developers even participated in this experiment.

One such developer is Daniel Vávra, the director of the first two Kingdom Come: Deliverance games. He is currently working on a new installment and on an open-world RPG set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Vávra chose to test DLSS 5 in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, while noting that it does not correspond to the technology initially presented by NVIDIA.

In any case, the director praised this early version of DLSS 5, which improves many in-game elements. In his view, the lighting has become more realistic and enhances both the detail and the expressiveness of the characters’ faces. It also adds shadows for hats, hoods, and helmets worn by NPCs. Hair shadows are rendered more effectively as well.

Daniel Vávra notes that DLSS 5*"doesn’t do much"* on environments. Finally, he published a side-by-side comparison to demonstrate the benefits of this technology when it comes to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
