New details on GTA VI (spoilers!)
There’s been a lot of news lately regarding GTA VI, and it’s not about to stop, as we’re getting the teaser set to air on Netflix tonight.
For now, we have some brand-new information on the game, courtesy of DAZED. It’s an interview with Rob Nelson, co-director of Rockstar north, and it reveals gameplay mechanics. If you want to avoid spoilers, it’s best not to read any further.
Overall, we can expect a good balance between the chaos of GTA and the realism of Red Dead Redemption. Our decisions and actions will have fairly significant repercussions in the game, thanks to some manner of honor system. There’s also a social media system, featuring a news feed focused on local pop culture.
Physical interactions are also more detailed, and food actually affects Jason and Lucia’s weight. It’s obviously possible to exercise to counteract these effects and build muscle. Lack of sleep or even prolonged partying physically alters their faces, while fights leave bruises and scars that last over time.
NPCs (unsurprisingly) have a wide variety of profiles, ranging from tourists to criminals, and they get scared if you walk down the street carrying weapons. Switching between Jason and Lucia is seamless; you can drive with him, or take control of her while she’s in the passenger seat.
Missions can be completed together, or you can go your separate ways to explore without the other. Finally, you’ll also discover that the various choices you make throughout the adventure and the couple’s relationship have a narrative and even psychological impact on the game.
