Microsoft has announced a brand-new feature designed to enhance backward compatibility. Starting Monday, members of the XBOX Insider program will be able to convert a game disc into a digital license.

This option will be available on XBOX One and XBOX Series X (with a disc drive). Users will be able to insert a disc into the console to automatically obtain the digital version of that same title. The digital copy will offer the same benefits as the physical copy (Xbox Play Anywhere, cloud gaming, etc.).

Please do note that if the owner of a disc decides to sell it, the digital license will be transferred to the new user’s account.
