In Germany, the price of DDR5 memory has increased fivefold in just one year
The situation on the memory front is more concerning than ever. Prices keep rising and it’s even worse due to AI. In some countries, this trend is causing concern and could lead to a collapse of the PC market.
This is revealed by a recent study conducted in Germany. The Geizhals Institute has compiled a chart showing price trends over a full year. We learn that a standard DDR5 RAM kit is now 4.9 times more expensive than last year (+486% compared to July 2025). The increase between July and August 2026 was 9%, and a double-digit rise is anticipated in the coming months.
As a result, we can expect ever-higher prices for computers, smartphones, graphics cards, and many other products with built-in memory.
