XBOX reportedly allowed Activision to work on Halo
Microsoft may well decide to entrust the Halo franchise to other developers. The American company has already tried this approach with Halo: Campaign Evolved, much of whose content was outsourced. In fact, more than 15 studios were reportedly involved in the remake.
Now, insider Rebs Gaming reports that the company could go even further. Xbox reportedly enlisted Activision to take on the Halo franchise. Sledgehammer Games, which works on Call of Duty, was reportedly tasked with creating a multiplayer experience.
The prototype for this Halo project was reportedly tested last June to evaluate its core mechanics. However, the project appears to have been canceled as early as July. This doesn’t mean Activision won’t work on Halo in the future. Microsoft is reportedly still considering the matter.
