Last month, Take-Two registered the Small Axe Studios trademark. Now, the publisher has confirmed that it’s a new development studio with a very specific area of expertise.

Indeed, it will be responsible for developing AAA sports games. The Vancouver-based company is made up of former EA Sports employees. Small Axe is led by Aaron McHardy, who spent more than 15 years at Electronic Arts. He notably worked on the FIFA franchise. Gary Peterson has been named head of design. He, too, had worked on EA Sports’ soccer simulation since FIFA 06.

The goal of this new studio is to "redefine the future of sports video games." There are no projects announced yet.
