Some fans and a former dev believe The Elder Scrolls VI will be called Sentinel

This week, Asha Sharma (CEO of Xbox) revealed that she had played The Elder Scrolls VI. She took the opportunity to tease the game’s full title, replacing the word in question with asterisks. Ever since, fans have been trying to decipher this hidden word.

In addition to online speculation, Michael Kirkbride, a former employee of Bethesda Game Studios, confirmed that the full title would be The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. Here, Sentinel refers to the city of Sentinel, which is one of the major cities in the Hammerfell region on the continent of Tamriel. The games in the series are often named after a region or city (Daggerfall, Morrowind, Skyrim).

Furthermore, the first major rumors surrounding The Elder Scrolls VI specifically mentioned a plot set in the Redguard region. Thus, the name The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel seems to make sense.

Finally, while this speculation is a bit more far-fetched, one player reportedly managed to decipher the employee number displayed on the character creation screen in Starfield. By isolating each number and finding its equivalent in the alphabet, we get SENTINEL. Is this a mere coincidence or a genuine teaser? It’s still too early to tell.
