Supermassive Games (Until Dawn, Directive 8020) announces big layoffs
All signs seem to point to Directive 8020, the survival horror game from Supermassive Games released on May 12, not having the expected success. As a result, the British studio has had to make a difficult decision.
On social media, the developer announced the layoff of 75 employees to secure its future. In 2024, Supermassive Games had approximately 350 employees. By July 2025, 36 positions had already been cut.
The studio is known for creating the excellent Until Dawn (2015), as well as The Quarry and The Dark Pictures Anthology series.
