XBOX provides more details about the outage of its services on July 27

On July 27, 2026, XBOX services were unavailable for several hours. As a result, players were unable to play games or even access their online content. Microsoft has since apologized and even provided explanations to its community.

Once again, Scott Van Vliet, Xbox’s Chief Technology Officer, provided further details regarding this incident. In a lengthy post on X, he explained that a licensing service became “unresponsive” following an update. Coupled with a bug in the Xbox client software, the issues snowballed, leading to that situation.

To rectify this, Microsoft will take ownership of the licensing service and actively strengthen the overall infrastructure through future updates. The Xbox client bug has already been fixed, and a patch is being rolled out as we speak.

Finally, Xbox plans to roll out even more reliability updates, additional features, and quality-of-life improvements in the coming months. This commitment to transparency has been applauded by many internet users.
