Blizzard has become the top-performing XBOX studio
Could Blizzard be experiencing a true renaissance? Acquired by Microsoft in October 2023, the American company subsequently separated from Activision to operate more independently.
Under the leadership of Johanna Faries, who was named CEO in February 2024, Blizzard Entertainment has delivered a string of strong results. Overwatch is doing much better, World of Warcraft is regularly updated, and Diablo frequently receives new content.
In an email sent to her teams (obtained by Windows Central), Faries highlighted this success and revealed that Blizzard is now the top-performing Xbox studio.
"he weekend will reflect the bold and collaborative work of everyone reading this. It’s my hope that the event can shine a light on the work underway at Blizzard, and that it can serve as a powerful springboard into a new era of momentum and excitement behind our mission to bring joy and belonging for communities worldwide.
In FY26 Blizzard ended the year as the top-performing studio in Xbox’s studios division, and this past year has marked our third highest fiscal for top line revenue in Blizzard’s history.
Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and Overwatch drove exceptional performance in particular, with Overwatch delivering its strongest quarter since 2022."
There’s no doubt that BlizzCon 2026 will be an event to watch, with possible announcements regarding StarCraft.
