While PlayStation has decided to phase out physical media starting in January 2028, not all of Sony’s divisions are following suit. In fact, the Japanese company still offers physical products in various sectors.

This is particularly true in the music industry. So when Sony promoted its LX3 turntable on the social media platform X, planty of gamers rushed to voice their dissatisfaction once again. This July 26 post has over 3,000 comments criticizing the decision to phase out disc-based gaming. Users pointed out that Sony continues to support vinyl (which has been on the market since 1948) while simultaneously halting the production of Blu-ray discs for video games.
