Vantage Studios is now working on an ambitious new Far Cry
Ubisoft appears to be picking up the pace for its Far Cry franchise. According to Insider Gaming, production on a completely new title has reportedly just begun at Vantage Studios, Ubisoft’s new subsidiary.
Sources indicate that this "really ambitious" title is codenamed Project Kodiak and is reportedly an open-world FPS in which "player interactions and player-driven stories take center stage."
Add to that the fact that this game is reportedly being built on the foundation of Project Maverick, a recently canceled extraction shooter. The conceptual phase was reportedly completed this month, and development began shortly thereafter. The release isn’t expected for several years.
It’s worth noting that another Far Cry title, known by the working title Project Blackbird, is still in production. This is said to be a major new installment in the series that will also have a multiplayer mode.
