Review of Halo Campaign Evolved: a good remake that doesn't quite win everyone over

Halo: Campaign Evolved is finally available to those who have bought the Premium Edition. The rest will have to wait until July 28. That being said, the remake has received its scores from the gaming press.

On Metacritic, Halo: Campaign Evolved currently has a score of 80% on PS5 (28 reviews), 86% on Xbox Series X (16 reviews), and 77% on PC (13 reviews). The OpenCritic average stands at 84% based on 36 reviews. These figures are expected to change in the coming hours.

Reviewers have highlighted the remake’s impressive graphics, along with notable improvements to gameplay and new skulls that are perfect for replayability. The four-player co-op mode is also very well done, and the experience offers a high degree of customization.

On the downside, the three new missions are somewhat disappointing, the allied AI can be limited at times, and certain sections show their age. The lack of competitive multiplayer is also quite regrettable.

Finally, Halo Studios has uploaded all of the game’s cutscenes to YouTube. Beware of spoilers!
