This story caused quite a stir on social media. A gamer and content creator named Joshua Khane had his Xbox and OneDrive accounts deleted by Microsoft following a security breach.

Although the company initially refused to restore the data, it eventually complied following the media attention the case received. Khane was able to recover his games and family photos. However, he later posted a video highlighting that the process seemed “a little fishy” to him.

In fact, Microsoft had explained in its email to the gamer that the data deletion process was irreversible. Yet, a restoration was still possible, which raises questions about Microsoft.

"I’m grateful because the incident caused quite a stir and caught Microsoft’s attention. That said, the way it was handled was obviously not ideal.

What bothers me the most is that they told me it was irreversible. It took a tweet, or rather, a post with millions of likes and extensive media coverage for them to contact me. No offense to Microsoft, but the people who helped me were fantastic. But I sympathize with those who aren’t able to recover their accounts, because I know I’m not the only one.

To me, the way this whole thing played out is a little fishy. It’s not that they can’t recover your account, it’s that they won’t do it if you’re a complete unknown. And I’m a complete unknown, but my tweet went viral."
