The Elder Scrolls Online: despite the layoffs, the MMORPG isn't dead

After more than 200 layoffs last week, ZeniMax Online Studios appeared to be in serious trouble. So much so that questions about the future of The Elder Scrolls Online were bound to arise…

Now, the website Massively Overpowered has provided an update after gathering statements from several members of the studio. We’ve learned that the company’s headcount has returned to its 2018 levels, when the « Summerset » expansion was in development. Furthermore, unless Microsoft decides otherwise, the future of The Elder Scrolls Online does not appear to be in immediate jeopardy.

« While these layoffs are extremely difficult for everyone (including players), this doesn’t necessarily mean the end of new content or that the game will be put on hiatus… This really isn’t the end. »

The MMO’s roadmap will be revised to align with the teams’ actual capacity following the layoffs.
