The cost of the PS6 components is now estimated to be around $1,000
We need to mentally prepare ourselves for the very high price of the upcoming consoles from Sony and Microsoft. These machines could cross a symbolic price threshold.
In a report published last March, insider Kepler_L2 claimed that the PS6’s production cost was around $760, which would suggest that the console would retail for around $700. Unfortunately, we’ll likely have to forget that assumption…
Now, the same insider reports that the cost of the PlayStation 6’s components has risen by $200. The console would therefore cost around $1,000. However, a launch delay is not on the table. The PS6 could therefore be released toward the end of 2027 at a price of around $1,000… a price that could still rise in the coming months.
