Krafton will pay $250 million in bonuses to Subnautica 2 developers

While the game has managed to become a big success, Subnautica 2 had a very difficult development process. Krafton was in conflict with Ted Gill, the CEO of Unknown Worlds, and several other former members of the management team. All had left the company, but Gill was reinstated to his position after suing the publisher.

Krafton had also sought to delay the release of Subnautica 2 to avoid paying a $250 million bonus to the studio’s employees that was tied to Unknown Worlds’ financial results. Ultimately, the South Korean publisher reportedly agreed to make the payment.

The Korean Economic Daily has confirmed the information in a recent article. Subnautica 2 generated $100 million in revenue in one week and has sold over 4 million copies. This $250 million represents approximately 35% of the company’s profit from last year.
